A father and child holding handmade pottery at a Father's Day workshop in Fremantle
Father's Day 2026 falls on Sunday 6 September, and Fremantle is one of the easiest places in Perth to spend it. Within a twenty minute walk you can put dad on a brewery tour, inside a World Heritage listed convict prison, in front of the Batavia shipwreck, or at a clay table handbuilding something he will actually keep. Below are twelve things to do in Fremantle this Father's Day, with opening hours, prices and booking links, plus a sample itinerary if you would rather not plan it yourself.

1. Dad's Day Out at Gage Roads Freo
Gage Roads at A Shed on the Walyalup waterfront runs a dedicated Father's Day session on Sunday 6 September. Expect inflatable axe throwing, complimentary beard trims from the brewery barber, whisky from Whipper Snapper Distillery, and free brewery tours running hourly from 12pm to 5pm. No bookings are required, which makes it a good option if your plans are still loose on Sunday morning.
Where: A Shed, Walyalup Waterfront, Fremantle. Cost: free entry, food and drinks at bar prices.

2. A brewery tour at Little Creatures
Little Creatures at Fishing Boat Harbour is where a lot of Australian craft beer history was written, and the sixty minute brewery tour walks you through the ingredients, the brewing process and the company history before finishing with a guided tasting of the full range. Tours run daily at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, cost $35 per person and are for adults aged eighteen and over. They book out on Father's Day, so reserve a spot before Sunday.
Where: 42 Mews Road, Fremantle.

3. Lunch at Running With Thieves in South Fremantle
If your dad prefers a quieter room to a crowded brewery floor, Running With Thieves on Marine Terrace has a brewery, a distillery, a bar, a restaurant and a cafe all on the one site, a short walk from South Beach. It is a good middle ground for a family group where one person wants a pint, one wants a gin and one wants a proper feed. Book a table rather than chancing a walk in on Father's Day.
Where: 218 Marine Terrace, South Fremantle.

4. Fremantle Prison tours
Fremantle Prison is the only World Heritage listed building in Western Australia, and it is one of the best value attractions in the state. The Convict Prison, Behind Bars and True Crime tours are each $25 for an adult, $15 for a child and $73 for a family pass. The Tunnels Tour, which takes you underground and onto the water in a small boat, is $70 for an adult and is best for older kids, with a minimum age of twelve. Tours run from 10am to 5pm.
Where: 1 The Terrace, Fremantle.

5. The WA Shipwrecks Museum, free entry
Housed in the convict built Commissariat buildings on Cliff Street, the WA Shipwrecks Museum holds the reconstructed stern of the Batavia and the stone portico she was carrying when she wrecked in 1629. General admission is free, with a suggested $5 donation, and the museum is open daily from 9.30am to 5pm. Free highlights tours run at 10.30am and 2.30pm. It is a short walk from the Fishing Boat Harbour, so it slots neatly between lunch and an afternoon drink.
Where: Cliff Street, Fremantle.

6. The WA Maritime Museum and Australia II
Five minutes north on Victoria Quay, the WA Maritime Museum is home to Australia II, the yacht with the winged keel that took the America's Cup in 1983, and to Jon Sanders' Parry Endeavour. Adult entry is $15, concession is $10, and children fifteen and under are free, which makes it one of the better priced family outings in Fremantle.
Where: Victoria Quay Road, Fremantle. Open: daily 9.30am to 5pm.

7. Fremantle Markets
The Markets are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the Yard trading from 8am and the Hall from 9am, both until 6pm. Father's Day morning is a good time to walk the aisles for a last minute gift, whether that is hot sauce, records, leather goods or a coffee that does not come from a chain. The building itself dates to 1897 and is heritage listed, so it is worth a look even if you buy nothing.
Where: Corner South Terrace and Henderson Street, Fremantle.

8. A pottery workshop at Happy Hub Collective
If your dad is the person who says he does not want anything, a workshop tends to land better than another gift. At our Fremantle studio in Stackwood we run handbuilding pottery sessions rather than wheel throwing, which means no experience is needed and nobody spends the session fighting a spinning lump of clay. Sip and Sculpt is our most booked session for occasions like this. You build your own piece by hand, bring your own drinks, and we glaze and fire it for you afterwards.
Mug making, dip bowls and grazing plates, and Paint and Make are all available too, and private bookings work well for larger family groups. Studio sessions and private bookings can be arranged around Father's Day weekend and the weeks either side.
Where: Stackwood, 10 Stack Street, Fremantle.

9. Gin School at Republic of Fremantle
Republic of Fremantle on Pakenham Street is an urban distillery making grape based spirits, and their two hour Gin School lets you build your own botanical blend, distil it on a mini pot still and take home a 500ml bottle of your own gin. It is $180 per person, or $150 per person for groups of four or more, and you can stay on for lunch at the restaurant downstairs afterwards. It is a strong pick for the dad who is difficult to buy for, because he essentially makes his own present.
Where: 3 Pakenham Street, Fremantle.

10. Bowling, mini golf and arcade games, with a free activity for dad
Strike, Holey Moley and Archie Brothers in Fremantle are running a Father's Day offer across Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, where dad gets one complimentary activity when you book online using the code DADFREE. A minimum of two people applies, it excludes functions and bundles, and it is subject to availability, so book early rather than turning up.

11. The Round House, Whalers Tunnel and Bathers Beach
The Round House on Arthur Head is the oldest surviving building in Western Australia, completed in 1831, and it is open daily from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Walk through the Whalers Tunnel underneath it and you come out at Bathers Beach, one of the few city beaches in Perth where you can sit with a drink on the sand. It is a fifteen minute stop that gives you the best view in Fremantle, and it costs nothing.

12. Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre
The Arts Centre on Finnerty Street is free to enter, with exhibition galleries open 10am to 5pm daily. The gardens are shaded and quiet, the courtyard cafe is a calm alternative to the South Terrace crowds, and the Moores Building art space nearby is showing Diamond Chin Slop until 6 September, so Father's Day is the last day to catch it.
Where: 1 Finnerty Street, Fremantle.

Getting to Fremantle and where to park
Fremantle Station sits at the top of Market Street, a five minute walk from most of the places on this list, and the train is the least stressful option on a busy Sunday. If you are driving, the City of Fremantle runs several public car parks and on street bays across the centre, and rates and locations are listed on their website. Arrive before 11am if you want a bay near the Fishing Boat Harbour.
